Day 4: Today I brunched with the cast of the Juke Joint. As amazing as these folks are on stage, they are even more amazing when not “on”. Josephine Shaker set up a soul food dinner complete with fried chicken, mac and cheese, greens, beans, (sweet) potatoes, cornbread and of course mimosas.
Y’all, Shaker put me on chicken duty. Needless to say, it was a lovely affirmation of my auntie status but YOOOOOO being the one who fries up the chicken is a huge responsibility. You don’t want to over fry it and make it dry, but you don’t want to under fry and have soggy chicken (or worse SALMONELLA). We came out alright and using cornstarch as your start really helps.
I think I’m also on official drink duty from now on (#mimosas4life)
